Welcome to Iowa!  I love Dr. Sundberg.  I had a few complications and he was wonderful!  I did not meet anyone while in the hospital at Grinnell that was not great.  We can't be too far away if your hubby works at Vermeer.  I'm in Knoxville.

UPDATE:  Hello, everyone!  Just talked to Katie.  She got out of the hospital yesterday afternoon.  Other than being a little sore, which is to be expected, she's doing very well! Shannon

Topic: Insurance Question!!

Hey my OH fam, how is everyone?  First of all, let me say I hope everyone is having a great holiday so far & that it continues that way!  Ok, onto the business at hand..I have kinda of sticky situation I may be getting myself into when it comes to the insurance part of the this and I'm not sure how to handle it or what I can do to make sure I will still be able to get my surgery.  Anyways, the situation is this:  I have Medicaid and the only thing I need from there for the state I live in is a 6 month supervised diet which I am doing right now.  I just went into my 3rd month last week, so that is going fine.  That should end at the end of April and then I would be able to send all my stuff to Medicaid to HOPEFULLY get approved. Well, the thing is I just finised my semester at school and am really hurting for money, so I have decided to go back to work full-time, so I am in the process of trying to get interviews set-up and all that great stuff.  The thing I'm worried about is what if I get a job within the next few weeks and then I'm offered private insurance through my new job??  I'm worried about this because, I'm scared if I get this new insurance as my primary and keep my Medicaid as secondary (which I can do) that I will not end up getting the surgery or that it will take even longer.  So my question is, have any of you been in this same situation or know someone who has?  Any thoughts, advice, or comments would be greatly appreciated.  This has been on my mind a lot lately and even tho I dont have a job yet, I guess I just kind of want to be prepared ya know?  Thanks for reading this and again I appreciate any words of wisdom and Merry Christmas to every OH family member and their loved ones! <3, Tonya

On Wednesday I called the hospital where she was at and she was in ICU.   Her aunt was with her.  She was sleeping, so I told them not to bother her.  I called a few times after that and was unable to talk to her also.  The nurse said she was doing fine, though.  I Called her cell today assuming she would be home by now, but her cell was turned off.  Other than that, I have no update.  Hopefully everything is going smooth for her.  I'm sure she'll update us as soon as she's feeling up to it. Topic: It's all over but the WAITING(x-post)
And I can't wait!!  LOL

I did all the testing that they wanted, I met the PA, I have given them all the paperwork (letter from doc, documentation of weight loss attempts, etc, etc), had my psych eval.

The Psychologist said that it'd take him about two weeks to get the report done (MMPI test results, etc).  As soon as the insurance pays him, he'll pass the report on to the surgeon.  Then, I'll be presented to the "board".  After that, submission to insurance for the surgery.

So... the wait has begun.  I'll wait till after the new year to call insurance to be sure they are paying the psych.  If not, I'll do it myself and just wait to be re-imbersed.  LOL

Here's hoping for a QUICK turn around time!!  XXXXXX Mel
